Hull City boss Steve Bruce is hoping to be reunited with Sunderland midfielder Seb Larsson at the KC Stadium, and is preparing a £5million January bid, according to the Daily Mirror.

Bruce has previously signed the Swedish midfielder for Birmingham and Sunderland, and wants him at Hull in order to boost their survival chances.

The Swede is out of contract at the Stadium of Light in the summer, meaning he may make a cut price move in January as he is yet to sign a new deal with Gus Poyet’s side.

Larsson may however wait until the summer to move on a free transfer, especially if Hull survive and relegation-threatened Sunderland drop out of the Premier League.

Bruce would like Larsson in January, especially as he fears Andre Villas-Boas may recall Jake Livermore from his loan spell with the Humberside club early.

Livermore has impressed alongside Tom Huddlestone in the middle of the park for Bruce’s side, who currently sit 12th in the Premier League with 18 points from their first 15 games.

Bruce paid £1million to Arsenal for Larsson’s services when in charge of Birmingham six years ago, after the midfielder had impressed on a four month loan spell.

Bruce then signed the midfielder again on a Bosman deal for Sunderland in 2011.

Larsson rates Bruce highly as a manager, and would be open to a move that would see the pair reunited for the third time.
