Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore has poured cold water on a rumoured switch to Liverpool by revealing that he will not be leaving the Parc des Prince in January.

The Argentinian international has been strongly linked with moves to both the Reds and Arsenal in recent times amid rumours that he had grown frustrated with life with the Ligue 1 champions.

Liverpool were believed to be leading the queue, with Brendan Rodgers said to be looking to bring in a marquee signing after missing out on big name targets over the summer.

But Pastore – who was PSG’s first major arrival following their Qatari takeover in 2011 – says that speculation surrounding his future is unfounded, and that he is happy to stay.

“I was the first to sign for this club and will be the last to leave,” Pastore told talkSPORT.

“Everything [that has been said] is wrong and has nothing to do with reality.”

The 24-year-old has struggled to hold down a starting berth of late, and his problems are only expected to worsen with PSG being linked with big money moves for top midfielders.

Pastore rose to prominence with Palermo in Italy, before completing a £35m switch to France two years ago.
