Newcastle at Anfield.

The Reds enjoyed the majority of the possession against their opponents, but were unable to turn their dominance into three points.

The result means that the Merseysiders have only one home league win to their name this season, but Rodgers was happy with the display:

“I thought we were outstanding, I have to say, our intensity and possession was relentless in the game.” He told Sky Sports.

“We went to sleep just before half-time but for every other moment of the game I thought we were brilliant, and we deserved three points but we could just not put away any of the chances we had.”

The Reds trailed at half-time, but the Northern Irishman insisted that nobody was panicking:

“I just said stay calm, sometimes when you dominant the game like we did and concede, it can be easy to play desperation football and chase the goal but I thought it was important (to keep) playing as we were playing as we opened them up enough times.”

“In fairness to them they defended well but they had to, but I thought second-half like the first, our pressing, our pressure, our possession was good and fast and we could just not finish off the many of the chances that would allow us to win the game and that is our fifth draw in ten games.

Yohan Cabaye gave the Magpies the lead on the stroke of half-time, before some sublime skill from Luis Suarez allowed him to round Tim Krul and level the score line with 25 minutes to play.
