Jose Enrique is confident Liverpool FC can finish in the top four this season and believes they can begin by picking up maximum points from their next two games.

The Spanish full back who was voted the club’s player of the month for November after enjoying a successful spell in a more forward midfield role, is confident his side have turned the corner after a difficult start under new manager Brendan Rodgers.

Enrique, 26, limped out of his side’s 3-2 victory at West Ham however and is a doubt for the game against Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday. Speaking of his club’s chances of finishing in a Champions League spot, he told Liverpoolfc.com: ”We’re just four points behind the Champions League places and we have a big chance to be there before January finishes.

“We have to take it step-by-step. We are close now [to the top four] and have a good chance. We have two games at home now and we’ll try to win them both.

“Then if we can get some good players in the transfer window, maybe we can do something.”

After three defeats in their opening five league games this season, Liverpool have now only lost once since the game against Manchester United at the end of September.

Rodgers has expressed that he is keen to bolster his new look squad  in the January transfer window and with the league as tight as it is this season, he will be aware that a good run of results could put the Reds right back in European contention.
