Just as the Premier League starts recovering from the hangover of a summer of unrivalled spending in the transfer market, the count down to the  January transfer window begins.

Liverpool were among the shrewdest operators in the English top flight this summer, bringing in a wealth of mixed and varied talent at relatively cheap cost in comparison to their divisional rivals.

But not every Anfield conundrum was solved over the summer by Brendan Rodgers, and the Liverpool boss could do with tailoring his squad slightly in January if he’s serious about getting the Reds into a Champions League position by the end of the season.
