Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann is excited by the club’s new strike partnership of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

Brendan Rodgers secured the services of Sturridge soon after the transfer window opened for a fee in the region of £12million, and he has scored twice in his first two appearances while already striking up an understanding with top scorer Luis Suarez.

The new partnership is one which excites former Anfield favourite Dietmar Hamann who told the club’s official website: “There were some very promising signs from the 45 minutes that Suarez and Sturridge played together against Manchester United and I think he will be starting with Luis on Saturday.

“You’ll never know how well their partnership will be until they play consistently but I think it’s looked promising so far.

“It’s a partnership that really excites the fans and everybody will be looking forward to seeing how they do on Saturday.”

The England international started on the bench in the Reds’ defeat at Old Trafford on Sunday, but looked a threat when he was introduced to proceedings.

“He came on and had an immediate impact. He scored a goal, threatened a few times with his sheer pace and made the United defence drop deeper and deeper,” Hamann added.

Sturridge’s strike partner Suarez has enjoyed a prolific season so far in front of goal, already surpassing his 17 goal tally in all competitions for the whole of the last campaign, and the Anfield faithful will hope the two can continue to combine to boost their position in the Premier League.

LFC should sign him, a proper big club with history and class.
