Liverpool legend John Aldridge reckons Luis Suarez still wants to leave the club and should not be offered a new deal, according to the Daily Mail.

The controversial forward spent the summer attempting to engineer a move away from the Anfield club, with both Arsenal and Real Madrid  interested in his services.

But despite Suarez’s best attempts, Liverpool stuck to their guns and refused to sell. The forward returned to Premier League action after a 10-game ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in April, and scored twice as the Reds moved up to second in the table.

Reports last week suggested the club were looking to tie the Uruguayan down to a new contract, but Aldridge hopes they do not reward a player who spent the summer looking to leave.

“Suarez was very keen to leave Liverpool in the summer and I have no doubt that he will look to get away once again,” the former Kop hero said.

“So why try and get him to commit to the club now, so soon after he did the dirty on them with his bid to join Arsenal?

“Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre may have told the media he would consider a new contract for Suarez in a bid to dampen down any fresh speculation over the future of the striker.

“But if Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League once again, I’m sure Suarez will want to leave and I would advise my old club to get as much money for him as possible and rebuild the team with the new funds.”

Reports suggest Liverpool may open talks as early as next week on a new deal that would see Suarez become Liverpool’s highest earner on £160,000 a week.

I think it is an idiotic advice from a very stupid old star. When you know that he is a good player, you have to try to keep him. If someone can leave the club easily, they he may simply talk public and can leave easily. Look at United and see how difficulty Rooney is when he tried to leave his club. Your comments will ruin Liverpool. In fact, you should rather watch football and prepare to die rather than give any comments. It is nonsense.

What exactly is Mr John Aldridge talking about? So once any player voices out a wish he mean it must be granted? So much has been made of Suarez matter. But I think for the good of the club the LFC management and owners have done very well to keep him. With him in the team there is no doubt we have a chance to finish in the top four. If that is the case why should those who should know better continue with the negative side of the matter> would it not please Mr Aldridge if LFC finishes as high as possible? We all know how difficult it was to sign world class player during the summer and we know Suarez belongs to that group.
