Real Madrid will make a summer move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, despite the Reds preparing the offer of a new contract that would see him become the clubs highest paid player of all time, according to the Daily Star.

The Spanish giants do not want to disrupt their squad mid season, so will resist a January bid for the in form striker.

However reports in Spain suggest they are hoping to open negotiations at the end of the season.

Liverpool spent the summer battling to retain the services of the Uruguayan star, turning down two official bids from Arsenal, one of which was the summer of £40million plus £1.

The Reds now hope to tie the forward down to a new long term deal in order to avoid a repeat of the summer’s transfer saga, and hope an offer of £200k a week will be enough to make Suarez sign.

Managing director Ian Ayre has already flown to Barcelona to begin discussions with Suarez’s agent Pere Guardiola, over the prospect of a new deal that would make the forward the highest paid player in the clubs history.

Suarez has scored 17 goals in just 11 Premier League appearances this season, and is top of the Premier League scoring charts.
