Liverpool are hopeful of ending their two-year long pursuit of Barcelona’s Cristian Tello this summer, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Reds have been chasing the Spanish attacker over the course of the past few transfer windows, with the club rumoured to see him as ideal addition to their first-team squad.

Despite Barca’s 14-month transfer ban, it is believed that Liverpool are still looking to push another offer for his signature.

The Catalan club are likely to appeal FIFA’s decision to suspend them from buying and selling players, which could see them able to do some business early in the coming transfer window.

If this occurs, then Tello is thought to be up for grabs for around £12m.

Brendan Rodgers has been monitoring the 22-year-old closely, and is more than willing to put a chunk of his budget towards luring him to Anfield as he plans for a season in the Champions League next term.

Tello himself may be open to leaving Barca, with the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Alexis Sanchez and Pedro all ahead of him in the battle for a starting spot in his preferred role as part of an attacking three.
