Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has once again cooled talk that his side are in pole position for the Premier League title.

The Reds moved five points clear of Chelsea – who lost to Sunderland on Saturday – after a narrow 3-2 victory against Norwich at Carrow Road to make themselves clear favourites to snatch English football’s top prize for the first time in 24 years.

Raheem Sterling bagged two either side of a Luis Suarez effort, while the Canaries’ goals came from Gary Hooper and Robert Snodgrass.

With just three games left to play a first ever Premier League title for the Merseysiders looks to be on the cards, with two wins and a draw enough to guarantee them top spot regardless of Manchester City and Chelsea’s results.

As well as putting themselves in the driver’s seat, Liverpool also secured automatic Champions League qualification, and after the game Rodgers focused on that achievement rather than talk of winning silverware:

“We have qualified for the Champions League, which was our target. We cannot finish any lower than third, which is an incredible achievement.” He told Sky Sports.

“Now we have the chance to play in the group stages. We just want to continue and finish the final three games as best as we can.”
