Brendan Rodgers will sign a new contract at Liverpool once the season has finished, according to reports from The Guardian.

The Northern Irishman is set to be rewarded with a bumper long-term deal after two years on Merseyside following his guidance of his team to the top of the Premier League table with just three games to go.

Regardless of whether or not the Reds end their 24-year wait for English football’s top prize, Liverpool’s hierarchy are desperate to tie their coach down.

Rodgers currently has just over 12 months remaining on the deal that brought him to the club from Swansea, which has led to small amounts of speculation that he may be in line for the Barcelona job.

The 41-year-old is believed to be very happy in his current surroundings and will reportedly choose to accept the offer, although he is prepared to wait until his team’s title charge has finished.

Rodgers may also be given upwards of £60m to invest in his squad over the summer after securing Champions League qualification.

Yevhen Konoplyanka of Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan are said to be top targets.
