Liverpool have been handed a transfer boost in their pursuit of Sevilla’s highly-rated left-back Alberto Moreno, according to MirrorSport.

The 21-year-old Spaniard was reportedly close to signing for La Liga giants this summer, replacing Fabio Coentrao at the Bernabeu, but his agent has moved quickly to quash such reports.

And that has put Brendan Rodgers back to the front of the queue as he seeks a suitable replacement for Aly Cissokho, who didn’t do enough during his season-long loan spell to earn a permanent Anfield move.

Moreno is thought to be available for at least £15m, but it is believed Rodgers is more than willing to meet Sevilla’s valuation on order to pip Real Madrid to his signature.

Moreno is already a full Spain international and is highly regarded as one of the best young, defensive prospects in Spain at the moment.
