Liverpool are preparing a summer move for Mateo Kovacic, reports the Metro.

The Reds will make an £8million bid for Croatian, who is unhappy at Inter Milan. The 19-year-old has been dropped in recent weeks, with rumours that he has fallen out with manager Walter Mazzarri.

Despite being one of the hottest teenage talents across Europe, Kovacic could depart for less than £10million this summer, with Brendan Rodgers a big admirer of the youngster. Despite being previously linked with Arsenal and Tottenham, the Reds are ready to make a £8million move before the World Cup, in order for Kovacic to have his future organised before the major tournament.

The Reds missed out on Ukrainian star Yevhen Konoplyanka in the winter, but it seems that Rodgers will focus on Kovacic once the season finishes. Liverpool are on course to finish in the top 4 this campaign, meaning Champions League football next year, whilst the club are still in the race for the title.

The unhappy 19-year-old has made 25 Serie A appearances for Inter Milan this season, but a rift with manager Mazzarri could mean Kovacic struggles to increase that number any further. And just two years after he moved to Italy, the Croatian could already find himself leaving the San Siro.
