Liverpool face fight for Dutch star
CSKA Moscow are the latest club to take an interest in Werder Bremen ace Eljero Elia, according to Talksport.
The Holland international was already on the radar of Premier League clubs with both Liverpool and West Ham said to be very interested.
Liverpool were hotly tipped to make a bid for the playmaker when he was plying his trade at Bundesliga outfit Hamburg, but instead the winger made the move to Italian giants Juventus.
The midfielder’s Italian adventure however was largely unsuccessful and gave the winger a virtually non-existent chance of being called up to the Dutch Euro 2012 squad, causing a lot of disappointment for the speedy winger.
It was of no surprise to see Elia leave the Turin based side and he swiftly found himself on the way back to Germany, signing a contract at Werder Bremen after the two sides agreed a deal last summer.
But it’s Russian giants CSKA Moscow who are now said to fancy a move for Elias after his displays in Germany caught the eye of their scouting team.
It could however be seen as a direct replacement for CSKA as one of their most talented assets looks set for a move. Alan Dzagoev is a wanted man across Europe and a big money move is likely, with Andre Villas-Boas interested in the Russian play-maker after many failed attempts to bring Joao Moutinho to White Hart Lane.
