Liverpool keeping tabs on Real Madrid ace
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is hoping to bring Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso back to Anfield in the summer, according to talkSPORT.
Alonso still has one year left on his current contract in the Spanish capital but is yet to respond to Madrid’s offer of extending the deal, casting his future into doubt.
The mini demise of Liverpool seemed to begin with the sale of Alonso in 2009 that broke up the unbeatable partnership of the Spaniard and England captain Steven Gerrard.
Many have tried and failed to replace the pass master as the holding midfielder at Anfield and the Merseyside club would do everything in their power to bring Alonso home if he became available.
Madrid are biding their time in regards to giving the 31 year old an ultimatum on his contract offer but the Spanish international is waiting to see if manager Jose Mourinho remains at the club before deciding on his future.
