Liverpool have joined the race for Dutch World Cup star Daley Blind and have opened talks with Ajax over a possible £12million move, according to Metro.

The 24-year-old was a stand out performer in Holland’s 5-1 World Cup victory over Spain last Friday night and has attracted huge interest for his signature.

Blind’s performance against the World and European champions has rapidly increased his stock and reports are suggesting a whole host of Europe’s top sides are now exploring a possible move for the Ajax star.

Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are two sides who appear to be most keen on signing the versatile star, who is now expected to leave Holland this summer.

Blind, who starred at left-back on Friday, can also play as a centre-back and across the whole of midfield.

Despite the Dutchman being valued at around £12m, it is expected he will go for considerably more than that should a bidding war take place.
