Liverpool are plotting a summer return for Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk winger Yevhen Konplyanka, according to reports from The Metro.

The Reds came close to tying up a deadline deal for the Ukrainian star, only to see their efforts thwarted by the his club’s reluctance to allow him to leave.

Despite Liverpool having agreed terms with the player, conducted a medical and triggered his rumoured £15m release clause, Dnipro’s controversial owner Ihor Kolomoyskyi refused to sanction the switch, leaving the Merseysiders without a January signing.

But, Brendan Rodgers’ side have not been deterred by their experiences in Eastern Europe, and are already planning a fresh move for Konoplyanka in six months’ time.

The 24-year-old was originally a summer target for Liverpool, but their plans were pushed forward after Chelsea beat them to Mohamed Salah.

Despite rumours that Tottenham are planning a move for ‘Kono’, the Anfielders are confident that they can nab him after he showed an eagerness to join them on Friday.

Dnipro are thought to be more open to discussing a deal later in the year in order to have adequate time to draft in a replacement for their star man.
