Liverpool are ready to kick a move for Mexican World Cup star Guillermo Ochoa into action with Pepe Reina nearing a fresh loan switch to Napoli, according to reports from The Express.

The Central American stopper has been one of the top performers in the competition in Brazil, with his heroic displays between the sticks almost taking his nation to the quarter-finals.

Ochoa starred in the group stage with top showings against Croatia, Cameroon and the hosts, and was in great form as Mexico slipped out to the Netherlands via a late penalty kick.

His performances alone would surely have been enough to attract glances from big clubs, but the fact that the 28-year-old is a free agent has guaranteed that there will be a scramble for his signature now that his tournament is over.

Arsenal have been linked with the big-haired goalie, and now Liverpool are also ready to move.

Brendan Rodgers is known to be keen to get in a back-up man to challenge Simon Mignolet for a starting berth, and could well be free to push ahead his plans with Reina set for a second loan spell at Napoli.

Reports in Italy claim that the ’keeper is tempted by another stint in Naples, and that a temporary deal suits the Coppa Italian champions.
