Liverpool have reignited their interest in Dinamo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko, after negotiations with FC Basel winger Mohamed Salah stalled, according to the Daily Mail.

Yarmolenko figured prominently for Ukraine in their World Cup qualifiers against England, and is valued at around £15million.

He has enjoyed a superb first half of the season, scoring eight goals in 16 appearances for Kiev, while his international record is also impressive.

He has managed a total of 14 goals in 38 caps for the Ukraine.

Negotiations over a transfer for Salah are ongoing for the Reds, but Brendan Rodgers is considering alternatives as FC Basel continue to drive up the price.

The Swiss club are demanding a figure in the region of £15million for the 21-year-old dubbed ‘the Egyptian Messi,’ while initial reports suggested Liverpool were hoping to complete the deal for as little as £7million.

Salah has been grabbing the headlines over the past 12 months with a series of excellent performances for FC Basel in both the Europa League and Champions League.

He scored the winner against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea in a Champions League game in November, and is reportedly Brendan Rodgers’ top January target.

But the Liverpool boss will not be held to ransom over the talented winger, and will make a move for Yarmolenko if negotiations with Basel continue to stutter.
