Liverpool are ready to make yet another move for Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno after missing out on Ryan Bertrand, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Reds have been tracking the Spain international for much of the summer, and were understood to have been on the verge of tying up a £14m deal during the World Cup.

However the La Liga side upped their valuation of their full-back to north or £20m, to which the Merseysiders responded by dropping their interest.

Bertrand became the focus, but the Englishman has now joined Southampton on loan after it became apparent that Chelsea were not interested in doing business with a direct rival.

And now Liverpool are back in the race for Moreno, with Rodgers desperate to solve his left-back woes.

For much of last season Jon Flanagan was used in the position – despite him being a right-sided player – due to Jose Enrique’s injury woes.

Even though the ex-Newcastle man is now fit again, the Kop chief is thought to not be the biggest fan of the defender, who has been criticised for some erratic displays.

Liverpool are hopeful that recent dealings with Sevilla may smooth negotiations – Iago Aspas joined them on loan while Luis Alberto was signed from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan last summer – but they are likely to have to pay around £20m for the Europa League winner.
