Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan has called on Liverpool’s Luis Suarez to swap Anfield for Old Trafford.

The controversial Uruguayan has been, arguably, the Premier League‘s top performer this term, and leads the way in both goals and assists.

But after agitating for a switch away from Liverpool last year, there are some rumours suggesting that Suarez will once again look to move on this summer even if the Reds cap a fine season by winning the title and returning to the Champions League.

Forlan – the Kop idol’s international compatriot and a former United player – believes that his friend should consider a stunning move to his current side’s bitter rivals:

“We spoke a few days ago, he asked me if I think he should stay at Liverpool.” He is quoted by the Daily Mail.

“All I told him was to think about going to Manchester United.

“I know he loves Liverpool, the fans and the city, but I think the best thing for his career would be to move to Old Trafford.”

Such a move is likely to be a difficult one to manoeuvre, with Liverpool and United considered as one of English football’s oldest and fiercest rivalries.

The Anfielders are also believed to be confident of keeping their man, with reports suggesting that managing director Ian Ayre recently assured major sponsors that Suarez will still be wearing the red shirt next season.
