Liverpool youngster Jordon Ibe wants to make a similar impact next season to the one Raheem Sterling has made since breaking into the Reds’ first-team.

The 18-year-old is the latest of the current crop of talented starlets being tipped to break through at Anfield after making a few appearances in 2013/14.

Ibe spent the latter stages of the season on loan at Birmingham, where he played a part in keeping the Midlanders in the Championship despite intense relegation fears.

As a pacey winger, the teenager has been compared with England international Sterling.

The 19-year-old was one of the stars of Liverpool’s Premier League title push last term, wowing the Kop with his mix of speed, power and skill.

Ibe – a former trainee at Wycombe Wanderers – is being tipped to make an impact next season, and he says that he has been learning from his team-mate:

“Raheem has done extremely well. He’s kicked on to another level this season. I’m really happy for him, and hopefully he can continue playing at that level with Liverpool and with England.” He told the Liverpool Echo.

“He’s someone I look up to, definitely. He plays in a similar position and he’s a similar age. He’s someone I watch in training and try to learn from in the way he plays.

“I watch Raheem, Daniel Sturridge and the other attacking players in training. I just try to learn from them, improve myself and hopefully if and when I get my chance in the first team I will be ready to take it.”
