Liverpool will make it clear to Real Madrid and Barcelona – as well as any other interested parties – that Luis Suarez is not available for any less than £80m this summer, according to reports from The Independent.

The Uruguayan ace is once again the centre of controversy after he bit Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.

FIFA have since acted quickly to slap Suarez with a lengthy ban, which will see him miss nine games for his nation and, perhaps more significantly, four months of action for Liverpool.

With his past indiscretions, rumours have begun to circulate that the Merseysiders will look to cut him loose in the coming weeks.

But with the punishment still hanging over him, the likes of Barca and Real are thought to be looking at cut-price moves.

Reports have indicated that they value Suarez at around £40m, which is less than half of the £86m fee Gareth Bale commanded 12 months ago.

But after meetings, Liverpool’s owners and manager Brendan Rodgers have elected to remain steadfast in their stance that the 27-year-old will not be allowed to walk for any less than £80m.
