Liverpool are planning an end of season swoop for in-form Levante goalkeeper Keylor Navas, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The Costa Rican international – who is set to face England when the two nations meet in the group stage of the World Cup later this year – has emerged as one of La Liga’s top stoppers this term after a string of impressive displays.

Brendan Rodgers has been alerted to his abilities, and it is understood that the Reds have approached his employers to test the waters ahead of a summer deal.

Levante are adamant that Navas will not be leaving, but with an £8m release clause in his contract and the lure of Premier League action likely to tempt him away from the Mediterranean coast, the Merseysiders are confident of getting their man.

Although Liverpool only snapped up Simon Mignolet from Sunderland last year, they are said to be in the market for a new glovesman with Pepe Reina set to leave permanently when his loan at Naploli ends and Brad Jones no longer seen as an adequate back-up option.

Navas has made over 50 international appearances and has been hailed as the best ‘keeper in Spanish football by Levante president Quico Catalan.
