Liverpool are planning to keep Fabio Borini at Anfield next season amid fears that Luis Suarez will be leaving to join Barcelona, according to the Italian’s agent.

The 23-year-old only signed for the Reds in 2012 from Roma, but spent last season away from Merseyside on loan at Sunderland.

With Daniel Sturridge, Rickie Lambert and, until a few days ago, Suarez having been in line to be Brendan Rodgers’ striking option for next season, talk has been circulating that Borini could be sold.

The Black Cats are understood to be keen to get the Stadium of Light cult hero to the club on a full basis, while Southampton have also been linked with him.

Liverpool have said in the past that Borini will be staying, and now the hit-man’s agent, Marco De Marchi, has revealed that the situation has not changed:

“Fabio goes back to Liverpool to stay there, as stated by the manager Rodgers a few weeks ago,” he Is quoted by the Daily Star.

“So far, Liverpool have not received any communication regarding his transfer.

“I would not be surprised if there were other clubs who want him, because I consider him a complete striker.

“But for the moment, all I can say with certainty is that Fabio has returned to Liverpool to stay.”

Even if Suarez stays at Liverpool he is set to miss the first two months of the season due to a FIFA-imposed ban.
