Liverpool are readying an £8m bid for Inter Milan midfielder Philippe Coutinho, after seeing their initial offer rebuffed by the Italians.

The Reds are keen to bring the Brazilian to the Premier League, with manager Brendan Rodgers looking to strengthen his attacking options.

Inter rejected the Merseysiders’ initial £6.8m bid, and are believed to be holding out for around £10m.

However, Liverpool are unwilling to match that figure, having already parted with £12m for Daniel Sturridge.

Despite the interest, Coutinho played down talk of a move, stating that he is happy to remain at the San Siro:

“The Liverpool offer? I’m happy with these offers, because it means I am doing my job well.” He is quoted by The Mirror.

“But I think Inter have faith in me and I want to show my value here. I don’t feel that I’m on my way out. I hope to stay at Inter.”

However, there are rumours that the 20-year-old has declared his desire to join Liverpool privately.

It is believed that he has told fellow countryman, and Reds midfielder, Lucas that he is highly interested in moving to England, and would jump at the chance to play at Anfield.

Rodgers would be able to offer Coutinho a greater chance of first-team football, with chances at Inter limited.

Liverpool board stop giving us fans heart attack, if you want him buy him for 10m or say we don’t have money and we can’t buy him end of story, it been like this all season with Dempsey, Sneidjer and more, just give them 10m wrap up the deal, is a shame for a team like Southampton to beat Liverpool in the transfer market ynwa but let us walk alone thinking, I’m tired of Liverpool transfer news right now, if we don’t have don’t send scouts out, class players are not cheap

We are gonna end up with egg on our face again !!!! I truly believe Rodgers is doing good job in identifying class players (apart from borini ) but his hands are tied by owners …… this player I believe is a future superstar I’ve watched him on number of occasions and the boy has got it !!!! Would bring that missing killer ball in centre of park we’ve been missing since the outrageous decision to sell xabi alonso …. Come on fsg do the right thing if I had the money I’d give them the extra few million they need !!!!! Ynwa
