Mario Balotelli is not set to sign a clause in his Liverpool contract specifically relating to his behaviour, according to his agent Mina Raiola.

Balotelli was at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground on Friday in order to finalise his £16 million move from AC Milan.

There had been rumours that Liverpool were keen to include a ‘code of conduct’ in the Italian’s contract due to his poor disciplinary record in recent years, but his agent has claimed the contract will be the same as all Liverpool players.

Raiola said: “Mario won’t have a different contract than the other Liverpool’s players – he has to behave with the code of conduct of the club like everyone else.

“Negotiations have been very smooth and correct with them which have gone on for three months. Liverpool have always been the only club which I have dealt with for Mario in England.”

During his time at Man City Balotelli received four red cards, gaining a reputation as a hot-head as he made frequent headlines with his off-field antics.

However, Brendan Rodgers seemed at ease with Balotelli’s reputation and is confident that he can get the best out of the Italian.

Rodgers said: “Every player we assess. Character is very important. No player will come in if they don’t fit.

“People who know me well will tell you I try to develop the person as well as the player. As long as they show they care and they want to develop, we can help them.”

Since joining AC Milan in January 2013 Balotelli has scored 30 goals in 54 games.
