Suso has revealed that he’s ready to stay at Liverpool and battle for his future after returning to the club from a season-loan loan spell in Spain.

The 20-year-old attacker went back to his homeland for 2013/14 to play for Almeria, where he made 35 appearances and netted three goals as the La Liga minnows steered clear of relegation.

Despite his impressive fledgling displays, the youngster has been linked with a permanent move away from the club amid talk that he may not have a big future at Liverpool

However, Suso says that he wants to stay on Merseyside and compete for first-team minutes:

“After the season in Spain, I think I have become a better player – I learned a lot,” he told the club’s official website.

“Obviously Liverpool are going to sign a lot of players because we are in the Champions League this season, and we have to have a good squad because there are a lot of competitions.

“But if I fight for my place, I do my best every day in training and when I have the chance to come on or start a game, if I do well, I could have chances to play a lot of minutes in the first team.

“He (Brendan Rodgers)talked to me, said he was happy with what I was doing and said that this season he wants me to stay here. I want to stay here and sign a new deal.”

Suso broke into the Liverpool first-team in 2012 shortly after Brendan Rodgers arrived at Anfield.

Due to a lack of options, the Northern Irishman picked the talented playmaker and Raheem Sterling frequently in his Reds XI.
