Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says that his side are not nervous heading into their Premier League title crunch match with Manchester City on Sunday.

The Reds are currently shock table-toppers after an impressive season on Merseyside and will end their 24-year wait for English football’s top prize if they win their remaining five games.

City are four points behind them, but with the advantage of two ties in hand, many are hailing them as favourites.

The Sky Blues also have the experience of winning the league, with Roberto Mancini having guided them to the title in 2012.

This has led many to suggest that Liverpool may struggle to overcome the pressure as they take on City at Anfield, but Rodgers is adamant that his side are relaxed ahead of the biggest game of some of their young players’ careers:

“It’s a significant game, there is no doubt about that,” he is quoted by Sky Sports.

“It’s two teams who have done extremely well this season in their own different ways and it should be a fantastic game of football.

“We are really looking forward to it. The team is confident and it should be fantastic.

“We are enjoying it and the players are very focused. We are calm and the training this week has been outstanding, so there have certainly been no nerves.

“There is talk about pressure and different types of words to describe it but, for us, it is exciting. We are really enjoying where we are.”
