Thomas Ince

Blackpool could lose Thomas Ince for as little as £155,000, as the long-term Liverpool target is thought to be considering a move abroad, according to the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old winger is valued at £8million, but can walk away for nothing in the summer when his contract expires. Blackpool are expected to do business in January, and could well receive considerable compensation should the youngster move to another club in England.

However Ince is also attracting interest from foreign clubs, including Ajax and Inter Milan – who his father Paul once played for.

Ince – who scored 18 goals for Blackpool last season – is warming to the idea of moving abroad, however any such move would offer a crushing blow to Blackpool’s finances.

FIFA regulations state any ‘cross-border’ transfer for a player of Ince’s age will result in compensation of around only  £155,000, while Liverpool are also are due to 35 per cent of any transfer fee – an agreement made when Ince made the switch from Anfield three years ago. However, the Liverpool clause does not apply to compensation.

Cardiff City had an £8million bid for the player accepted in the summer only for Ince to turn down the move.

Newcastle, Swansea City, Everton, Tottenham and Liverpool are all thought to be interested, but Blackpool chairman Karl Oysten is likely to demand at least £5million in January – despite the fact the player will have less than six months to run on his contract at that time.
