Liverpool’s best piece of business this summer was arguably keeping a hold of Luis Suarez – the Uruguayan made his intentions felt at the start of the transfer window, citing that intense criticism from the British media had convinced him to leave Anfield.

The 26 year-old had plenty of potential suitors, in the Premier League and beyond, but after a rather tough stance in the media from Brendan Rodgers and Reds chief executive Ian Ayre, Suarez’s distant admirers were held at bay.

But to suggest the issue of Suarez’s future has been put to bed would be naive- it will undoubtedly re-emerge come the end of the season, if not the coming transfer window, with Real Madrid reportedly preparing to swoop in for the Reds forward in January.
