Carlos Tevez Set To Extend City Stay
Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez is set to extend his contract by a further year according to boss Roberto Mancini.
Tevez has been in and out of the headlines for all the wrong reasons since his arrival from rivals Manchester United but it seems he is now settled at the Etihad.
The Premier League champions have an option to extend Tevez’s current deal, which has 18 months still to run, by a further year if they want.
Since the well documented bust up between Mancini and Tevez last season, the Argentinean has kept his nose clean and worked hard to be restored to the first team.
The former West Ham striker is key to City’s aspirations with Mario Balotelli becoming a liability and the goals seem to have dried up for Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko.
The City boss expects to talk to Tevez about the contract extension in the near future and has praised the striker’s behaviour.
Mancini told Sky Sports when asked if Tevez could extend his stay: “Yes, this could be because Carlos is 28 and he has other years to play. I think that this could be an option.”
“His behaviour is very good, he works very well. He is an important player because he has experience in this moment and also now he can help Mario which is important.”
