Defender says City are feeling invincible
City have of course already lost once in the league this season, however Toure who was part of Arsenal’s unbeaten Premier League campaign in 2003-2004, sees similarities in both sides.
“It was the same at Arsenal, that team who were the Invincibles,” he told Manchester Evening News. “We just knew when we were losing or drawing we could get the crucial goal. We have the same winning mentality here. We never accept drawing or losing a game.”
City started their busy festive run of games with a scrappy late victory at home to bottom of the table Reading, in a less than convincing performance.
“We know that every game we play at home, teams are going to come and defend. We need to be patient. When you push too much you can get frustrated,” Toure continued.
“It is really important to be calm because we know we can score at any time. We have so many attacking players who are capable of scoring, and on Saturday it was a midfielder who scored.”
The Ivorian defender has found himself back in the City starting XI recently due to injury problems as well as overtaking Joleon Lescott in Roberto Mancini’s pecking order.
He will hope to continue in the side as the Citizens face trips to Sunderland on boxing day, and Norwich on Saturday, looking to haul back a four point gap on leaders Manchester United.
