Man City and Chelsea suffer blow in chase for Brazilian
The 20-year-old Brazilian international has been a target for Europe’s elite, with Manchester City and Chelsea as well as Spanish champions Real Madrid said to be in the hunt.
The striker however is content with staying at his current club and doesn’t feel it is the right time for him to move.
“I am happy at Santos, with my family, son, friends, so it’s not the moment to leave,” The Telegraph quoted Neymar of telling TV Bandeirantes.
“That moment will come because I have the dream of playing in Europe since I was a kid, but that moment hasn’t come yet,” he continued.
“Today, I don’t see myself playing for any other team [than Santos].”
The young forward has been the subject of rumours linking him to moves elsewhere for a long time now, spanning back to August 2010 when he rejected a £23 million offer from Chelsea in order to continue his career in Brazil.
He has since remained loyal to Santos and it is suggested that he may not leave till 2014, after which his home nation would have hosted the World Cup.
This would mean a considerable wait for the likes of City and Chelsea who are both keen to bolster their squads in the winter window.
