Manuel Pellegrini is excited about taking a step closer to a trip to Wembley.

The Manchester City boss watched his side beat West Ham 6-0 in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final, meaning the Chilean is just one match away from the Final in London.

But Pellegrini has refused to take the second leg for granted, however he did admit that he was ecstatic at the job his players had done.

“We are not in the final yet, but we are very close and if you play football the way we have been doing I think you have a better chance of being successful,” Pellegrini told the club’s official website.

“It’s important for all big teams to win every competition they are in and that’s what we are trying to do. We would be proud to go to Wembley and it would be fantastic for us to take part in the first major final of the season, but as I say, we still have a job to do”

City have now scored at least 6 goals in one match an incredible four times, putting 6 past West Ham, Arsenal and Tottenham, and 7 past Norwich City.

The Citizens boss is closing in on a trip to Wembley, but has three games to focus on before travelling to Upton Park for the second leg.
