Manchester City have offered captain Vincent Kompany a new contract worth a whopping £60million, according to MailOnline.

The Premier League champions want the Belgium international to finish his career at the Etihad by putting pen-to-paper on a new £200,000-a-week deal over six years.

The 28-year-old has been the rock at the heart of City’s defence since arriving from Hamburg in 2008 and has developed into one of the best centre-halves in world football.

And despite Manuel Pellegrini looking to strengthen his defence by signing Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala for £32m before the start of the new season, he wants Kompany to remain as the focal point of his side’s defensive quality.

Kompany starred for Belgium in the World Cup this summer and attracted serious interest from Spanish giants Barcelona as a result.

But City look set to secure his services for the remainder of his career by making him one of the highest paid players in the Premier League.

And it is also believed the defender will pocket an extra £5m in contractual bonuses.
