Manchester City are plotting a summer move to snap up Arsenal full-back Bacary Sagna, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The 30-year-old has been one of the Gunners’ top performers this term, but with his contract set to expire in six months’ time he could be heading for the exit.

Some rumours have suggested that Arsene Wenger is willing to hand the French ace an extension on wages in the region of £60,000-per-week, however no official agreement has been made or even suggested.

Sagna is not short of admirers, with Ligue 1 duo PSG and Monaco having been linked with moves to lure him back to his homeland on a free transfer, while Galatasaray – now managed by Roberto Mancini – are also in the running.

But City are keen to offer the defender a Premier League lifeline.

The Citizens see Sagna as a top signing as they look to establish themselves as English football’s top force.

But, they may have to offer him a salary in the region of £120,000-per-week to ensure that other interested parties don’t lure him away.

A deal could spell the end for Micah Richards, who is currently behind Pablo Zabaleta in the pecking order under Manuel Pellegrini.
