Manchester City have been put on alert as Paris Saint-Germain put centre-back Marquinhos up for sale, according to talkSPORT.

The £35m-rated defender only joined the Ligue 1 champions a year ago in a £27m deal, but PSG are reportedly prepared to offload him if they can make a profit.

And with the arrival of David Luiz this summer, along with the likes of Thiago Silva and Alex, it appears the 20-year-old’s days at Parc des Princes are numbered.

Manchester City are reportedly interested in bringing the Brazilian to the Etihad as a long-term replacement to the outgoing Martin Demichelis, with manager Manuel Pellegrini a long-term admirer of the former Roma star.

But they may have to battle it out with Barcelona for his signature, with the La Liga giants in the market for a worthwhile replacement for the retiring Puyol.
