David Silva says that he is ready to reject rumoured interest from Barcelona to lift the Champions League trophy at Manchester City.

The Spanish playmaker has recently emerged as a target for the all-conquering La Liga side, with manager Tata Martino looking to find a long-term replacement for metronomic midfielder Xavi.

Silva is seen as a good option at the Nou Camp, with the ex-Valencia man having been a major success in England since his move back in 2010.

The 28-year-old looks a certainty to represent his home nation at the World Cup, and his reputation within the country is high, which has led to talk that he may be ready to return.

However, Silva says that he is keen to stay a Sky Blue and help his team to taste success in the Champions League in the coming years:

“I’m very used to the rumours every summer. They have been around a long time.” He is quoted by The Mirror.

“It’s the way football works – just rumours. I’m very happy at Manchester City and I think that shows on the pitch as well. The first thing is that I want to win the Premier League this year. And then I want to win the Champions League.

“I think this is the most exciting City team I have played in. That attacking style helps, not just for me, but for all the players to go forward and score more goals.

“I ask myself in every game to be the one to take ¬responsibility. I enjoy creating goals more than scoring them.”
