Manchester City Boss refuses to rule out summer sale
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has refused to rule out the sale of striker Edin Dzeko in the summer.
Dzeko is City’s top goalscorer this season but he still finds himself sat on the bench for the majority of games with his ‘super-sub’ tag beginning to stick.
Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero have failed to hit the heights of last season, as have the majority of the Blues squad that have fallen adrift of rivals Manchester United in the title race and now only have the FA Cup to fight for.
Dzeko already has 13 goals this season but is still third choice at the Etihad and with no guarantee of first team football in the pipeline, the 26 year old is set to move on in the summer.
Mancini has admitted that he would sell the Bosnian for around £20million in the summer with high profile replacements already lined up.
“We haven’t spoken about the transfer market because there are 10 games to go but in June anything can happen,” Mancini told the Independent.
“For me, Dzeko is a great player but he is the type of footballer who needs to play all the time. In Italy he could score 20 goals a season but he would cost someone €20m and maybe more.”
