Manchester City eye Arsenal raid
Manchester City are plotting a summer move for Arsenal full-back Carl Jenkinson, according to reports from The Mirror.
The Premier League champions are believed to be in the market for young, English talent, and have outlined the Gunners starlet as one of their major targets.
Jack Rodwell and Scott Sinclair have already been snapped up in deals with an eye on their squad’s home-grown status, and manager Roberto Mancini is now keen to bring in Jenkinson.
Although Pablo Zabaleta has been, arguably, the most consistent right-back in the league this term, the Italian is keen to sign a fresh face to rival the Argentine.
With the 21-year-old having impressed with Arsenal, City are willing to spend big to lure him away from the capital.
However, Arsene Wenger is believed to be far from keen to allow the England international to move on, and even rejected loan bids from Stoke and Wigan during January.
Jenkinson himself is known to be a big Arsenal fan, and would take some convincing to move.
But, City have the financial clout to push through a deal, and have lured other star names, including Kolo Toure, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri, from North London to the Etihad Stadium in the past.
