Manchester City are preparing a massive bid in order to sign Southampton defender Luke Shaw, according to the Daily Mail.

City are ready to flex their financial muscles and are looking at the Englishman to bolster their squad this month.

Shaw has been impressive for Southampton again this season, although the lack of international acknowledgement may start to become a fear for the youngster.

The 18 year old will not be sold by Southampton unless the price is sizable but City’s approach of around £30milliion could turn heads at St Mary’s.

Despite having more than enough cover at full back with the likes of Gael Clichy and Aleksander Kolarov, City want Shaw to fulfil fans’ ambition of attracting the best English players and also build for the future.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side is still in the hunt for four trophies this season and the Chilean is desperate to land at least two of those, as well as the eye catching signing of Shaw.
