Manchester City have set their sights on 21-year-old Argentine goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli, according to the Daily Mirror.

The highly rated shot-stopper plays for Estudiantes in his homeland, and has caught the attention of several top European clubs.

Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Porto are thought to be monitoring the promising youngster’s performances, despite the fact he has only made 31 first team appearances.

He has however already managed to break a club record, by going six and a half matches without conceding a goal.

Manuel Pellegrini has made an effort to tap into the South American market recently, having watched a number of the continents biggest talents over the past 12 months, including playmaker Angel Correa.

A new goalkeeper to provide serious competition for Joe Hart is thought to be high on the agenda in the summer, with the England international having an indifferent season.

City’s back up goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon is also expected to leave the Etihad at the end of the summer.
