Manchester City midfielder David Silva has refused to be drawn on speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid at the end of the season, according to the Metro.

Silva signed a new long term contract at the Etihad last year and has reiterated his happiness in Manchester, despite their sluggish form over the past 18 months.

Real Madrid are looking to add more quality to their midfield after the signings of Gareth Bale and Isco this summer.

However Silva has questioned the strength of the rumours, claiming that he is unwilling to get involved with these things as they happen during and before every single transfer window without fail.

‘I prefer not to say anything on the subject. I’m very happy in Manchester and I think this is similar to what happens every year,’ Silva said.

‘There are always rumours and, in the end, the player has to be calm.

‘I renewed my contract because I am happy in Manchester.’
