Manchester City stars to jump ship
Carlos Tevez and Samir Nasri are among the list of 11 players that could be set to leave Manchester City this summer, as the Premier League champions plan an extensive clear out.
Roberto Mancini refuses to fall into last summer’s trap, in which he believes the club’s inability to sign the players targeted has undermined the competitiveness of the squad in all competitions, according to The Guardian.
However, the Italian remains aware the club will have to adapt to the Uefa’s financial fair play rules, so a fire sale is needed in order to reduce the wage bill.
Some of the exits are more certain than others, as Kolo Toure, Roque Santa Cruz or Wayne Bridge finish their contracts in June and a renewal will not be considered.
Players like Carlos Tevez, Gareth Barry or Joleon Lescott have one year left on their deals however, and club chiefs know the summer window could be the last chance of getting some cash for some of their most attractive players.
Mancini, along with chief executive Ferran Soriano and director of football Txiki Begiristain, will also have to study the case of other players whose performance has been patchy, such as Samir Nasri, Edin Dzeko, Maicon or Scott Sinclair; with John Guidetti also on the shortlist after several injury problems.

Just more of the same tosh. For example Kolo Toure has filled in brilliantly for Kompany, why would the club sell him? pretty much the same with Lescott. They are 2nd choice for their respective positions and both have contributed this season when called upon. The only certainty is Nasri. He is no doubt a very talented player but he doesn’t fit our playing style. There will be no fire sale.

No one is saying they have performed badly. But they are both players with really generous wages for the amount of games they are playing, and the club has to cut down somewhere. Kolo is almost 33 and his contract expires in June. If he doesn’t reduce his salary expectation, it’d be natural not renewing his contract. Anyway, summer will come and we will see how many of those 11 remain.
