Manchester City target going nowhere
Roma midfielder Daniel De Rossi will not be leaving the Italian capital during the January transfer window, according to club president James Pallotta.
It is thought that De Rossi has become frustrated in Rome, struggling to adapt to new coach Zdenek Zeman’s tactics and suffering with injuries as suspensions.
The Sky Blues are rumoured to be ready to test the club’s willingness to keep hold of their vice-captain in the New Year, but have been warned off of making a move by Pallotta:
“We have absolutely no intention of selling De Rossi. We have not had any contact from anyone and we have not received any offers. It is just speculation.” He told Corriere dello Sport.
De Rossi was heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium during the summer, but reiterated his commitment to his boyhood club by penning a new five-year contract.
Roma have recovered from a frustrating start to the season to move up to sixth in the Serie A.
Pallotta wants to keep hold of his star midfielder, who he feels could help the team return to the Champions League:
“We definitely intend to qualify for the Champions League,
“If we don’t, we will be extremely unhappy.”
