John Guidetti Manchester City forward

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini refused to allow young striker John Guidetti to leave the club on loan on transfer deadline day, according to the Daily Mail.

Swansea attempted to lure the 20-year-old to South Wales on Thursday evening to replace the departed Danny Graham but Mancini was adamant that he will stay.

After the departure of Mario Balotelli to AC Milan, Guidetti is now the fourth choice striker at the Etihad stadium and is set to play a role in the dramatic end to the season with City chasing down Manchester United.

The Swedish international scored a stunning 20 goals in 23 appearances on loan at Feyenoord last season but suffered a serious knee injury June and has only just returned to reserve action.

Mancini was happy to allow the egotistical Balotelli to leave City and the Etihad boss is keen to move Guidetti into the first team as soon as possible to provide more ammunition for the coming months.
