Mancini Reveals City Tried To Sign Fernando Torres
Mancini claims that the £50million price tag was too much for England’s richest club and that he looked at the likes of Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli instead.
Torres has failed to live up to his price tag since joining Chelsea and some say dropping the Spaniard was part of the reason that Roberto Di Matteo was sacked at the Bridge.
However, new boss Rafa Benitez managed Torres during his most prolific time at Liverpool and he will be hoping that he can do so again against City today.
“Two years ago we had a chance of signing Torres but after the price became too high we decided on other players,” Mancini told the Daily Mirror.
“He’s a good player. Every striker can have a difficult moment but for me he is always dangerous.”
