Napoli say a move for Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli is ‘one for the future’ despite feeling the situation is currently too complicated to act on at the moment, ESPN reports.

The fiery Italian international has had a disappointing season so far at the Etihad and has seemingly fallen to fourth choice in Roberto Mancini’s striking pecking order.

Speculation has continued to mount that Balotelli could move back to Italy, and Napoli’s director of sport Riccardo Bigon has refused to rule out the possibility of the striker moving to the Stadio San Paolo in the future.

“It is a very complicated situation and we are complete in terms of our strikeforce,” he told Sky Italia. “It is a situation for the future.”

Last week Edinson Cavani also spoke at the possibility of playing alongside Balotelli, although he is a rumoured target for City himself.

“Nobody has the right to negatively judge a player like Balotelli as people can make mistakes,” the Uruguayan striker said.

“I would certainly love to play alongside him. He is a champion and has proved that. He’s an Italian champion who will make people very happy.”

Balotelli scored 13 league goals last season which helped the Citizens on their way to the Premier League title, but has just one league goal to his name so far this term in comparison.

It remains to be seen where Balotelli’s future lies, however while he is at the club, Mancini will want to see a huge improvement in his form over the second half of the season.
