Newcastle United have emerged as favourites to sign right-back Micah Richards, according to the Daily Star.

The Manchester City defender has been unfortunate with injuries over recent times, and has only made 9 Premier League appearances for City over the last two seasons, with Pablo Zabaleta keeping the 25-year-old on the bench when Richards is fit.

And Richard’s time at the Etihad could come to an end this summer, with Newcastle ready to make an £8million bid for the defender once the season finishes. United could find themselves searching for a new full-back, with rumours linking Mathieu Debuchy with a move to PSG.

Richards is out of contract at City next season, and with negotiations over a new deal breaking down, he could be sold this summer so that the Manchester club receive some money. Pellegrini has been rumoured to want to replace Richards with Bacary Sagna who can move to the Etihad for free at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old made his City debut in 2005, and has won the Premier League, FA Cup, and more recently the League Cup during his time at the club. Oldham Atheletic fans will want Richards to be sold this summer, instead of leaving next year for free, as they have a 20% sell on clause after the defender left the club’s academy for City at just 14-years-old.
